Flu vaccination is important both for individuals and for society as a whole. The higher the percentage of the population vaccinated, the lower the risk for a flu epidemic in the community. And for the individual, being vaccinated may prevent flu altogether, or if flu is contracted, it tends to be milder and have fewer serious complications.
Every fall Metro Saints Covenant Community sponsors a Flu Shot Clinic on a Sunday afternoon at Iglesia Valverde. Up to 100 free flu shots are given to low-income or uninsured persons who otherwise would not be vaccinated.
Volunteer opportunities: Each year we need two or three nurses or medical assistants who have experience giving injections. Others may help with registration and logistics in the clinic. The time requirement is about two hours on a Sunday afternoon, once a year. If interested, contact Robert Williams at 303-947-5062.
